SHOES
![]() |
Shoes were made from leather and had no heels. These ones are not terribly waterproof and are rather soft. The toes are pointy because it was a fashion bordering on a mania in the fifteenth century. Some shoes were twice as long as the foot inside them and seriously hampered the owner's ability to walk. Sometimes the toes elongated into a long, thin pike which would have to be tied to the fashion guru's knees in order for him to walk. Needless to say, the length of the point on your shoe came under the scrutiny of the sumptuary laws and had to be directly proportional to your income and status. |
