The Annual Christmas Bash at the Shirley Spice (Go Back to Top)

Ishtar have started the tradition of ending the winter term with a 'field trip' to the local Shirley Spice Indian Restaurant for a great meal, good company and an educational display of restaurant dancing by Helen. It usually ends with the entire restaurant having a go and a splendid time is had by all.

Hafla With BellyLorna - (click here for the Solihull Leisure Opportunities website) (Go Back to Top)

Ishtar performed at a charity hafla in aid of Solihull Leisure Opportunities, supporting people with learning difficulties.

The guest dancer was Belly Lorna, the only British dancer to be employed full time Cairo. We were privileged to see such a first-class performer close up at such an intimate hafla.

The dance performed by the group was to 'Salma Ya Salma' by Alabina from their CD 'The Album'. The music has quite a Spanish feel to it, so we included our Spanish turns. The choreography was created by the group during classes and is upbeat and fun.

For some of the troupe, it was their first public performance.

Waiting to go on.
