Helen had been a belly dance student for 8 years before she became a teacher in 2003.

Helen learned Belly Dance at Solihull College where she was taught by Sandra Newey.

Helen went on to gain a 7407 stage 1 certificate for teaching in higher education.

A member of Mosaic Arabic Dance Network, Helen has performed at many of their shows and has also appeared on TV.

Although a founder member of the Birmingham troupe 'Ashiqui', Helen dropped out due to other commitments (though she still runs their website).

Helen's students dance under the troupe name 'Ishtar', a Goddess represented by the Morning and Evening Star (Venus).
